An ode to Shanghai by
Angela Lim & Zhen-Lei C.
Angela Lim, born and raised in Vancouver Canada, first ventured to China in 2009 as an exchange student at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The next year, she moved to Shanghai where she fell in love with the vibrant city. In 2017, she co-founded boutique creative agency, Less Ordinary which she now runs alongside growing fitness community, Temporary Humans. She is a mother of two young children, both born in Shanghai.
Zhen-Lei Chang was born in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, and has Chinese roots with family ties to Wenzhou. After a career in media, Zhen-Lei discovered the joy of creating stories for her own children—stories that were as fulfilling to imagine as they were to share. She has lived in China for over 11 years with her husband and two children, who were both born in Shanghai.
Together,
Their journeys and unique multicultural backgrounds resulted in a shared love for the city, which serves as the inspiration behind their storytelling.
Angela and Zhen-Lei are currently working on new children’s books and continue to visit international and bilingual schools delivering interactive workshops to encourage students to explore creativity, collaboration, and the joy of bringing stories to life.
